The Story
Born and raised in Byron Bay, we take a fresh approach to brewing handcrafted beer in the Northern Rivers of NSW, one of the greatest places on Earth.
We established Bottle Cap Bros Brewery 2011. The three boys - Mario, Luigi and Bob had spent many years working in the beer business. The dream was to quit ‘working for the man’, shed the corporate garbage and get back to basics.
As the original brewers of the Northern Rivers, we built our first brewery here at the eastern tip of Australia, in a part of the world where people enjoy having a beer when relaxing after catching a wave, catching a band at the pub or just catching up with friends. It’s that sort of place.
We brew beer for times like these. Beers that the locals, those passing through the town and the growing number of drinkers who appreciate good beer, and of course ourselves, would find simply good to drink.
In 2016, we opened our second brewery up the road in Lismore to try and meet the growing demand for our beer. This is where we produce most of our beer with the Byron brewery being home to our pilot brewery, the birthplace of our limited releases and our tasting room, where you can drop in for a beer and a tour.
We love this part of the world… the beaches… the music… the lush green hinterland… the people… the pubs. These are just a few of the reasons why we brew and bottle our beer in one of the greatest places on earth. Byron and the region of the Northern Rivers has influenced everything we do at Bottle Cap Bros.
Not only has it helped shape our philosophy of trying to take things slowly and keeping it simple, but the natural beauty, on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, and the laid back vibe were the inspiration for our beers.
For us, the way of living in this part of the world is the way it should be.
The Boys
Mario Mendez
Football fan, ramen eater, ukulelist, vintage furniture collector and beer lover. Acting at the intersection of simplicity and brewing to craft beers that go beyond the norm.
Luigi Leggett
Hiking addict, self-starter, coffee drinker, guitarist and beer lover. Lives to brew and produce a quality product. Should probably not 'taste test' the product so often.
Bob Bohem
Surfer, doer, Mad Men fan, risk-taker and beer lover. Had his first beer at the age of 6 and never looked back. Now is living his dream brewing a quatlity beer to share with the world.
The Beers
Light Draft
One for the softies and the dedicated drivers. Light on the alcohol but heavy on the flavour.
Dark Ale
The saying "Once you go black, you never go back" comes from this beer. One of our most popular beers.
Cola Draft
Beer that tastes like cola. A hard desguised as a soft drink. Bring together the best of both worlds.
Vegan Ale
The beer crafted for the vegans or to tell someone you are drinking a vegan beer. Infused with spinich, this one could possibly prevent the dreaded beer gut.
Banana Ale
The worlds first beer that pairs well with fruit salad and chocolate. Infused with bananas, the taste may drive you bananas.
